5 Main Card Predictions For UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Saint Preux

4. Cláudio Silva vs. Leon Edwards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upasmPtG3vI Weight Class: Welterweight It's time for a segment we're going to begin calling "What's the Relevance?" Cláudio Silva is making his second appearance in the UFC. Why is he on a main card? Well, he has the right name, but he's not Anderson or even Wanderlei. He's not even Thiago. Yes, he has a winning record, and was happy to talk about how his past opponents had been in over 400 fights, at least prior to his UFC debut earlier this year. He told MMAFighting.com that "I see a lot of 10-0 guys who never fought good opponents, but that doesn€™t happen at London Shootfighters" where he trains. The problem with Silva's statement is that most of those 400 fights were losses. Opponents that are 41-47, 11-22, 15-46, 3-13, and 11-22 again are included on his record, though later in his now 11 fight career he began facing guys over the 500 mark. And he did win his UFC debut. Still, take Silva's inclusion here with a grain of salt. This is the UFC's third trip to Brazil in three months. In December they'll be back again. They need locals to make up the card, and though Silva actually fights out of London, he is Brazilian, and therefore the heavy favourite. He's also been given a favourable match-up against Leon Edwards (8-1), who is a debuting fighter, so you can expect another win for him. This is a card that is geared towards the TV market in Brazil and the hardcore fans tuning in for Shogun. Otherwise this fight is nowhere near the main card. All that said look for Silva to take the win via decision, however we're chalking that up to travel and octagon jitters on Edwards' part, as he has faced some legit competition in BAMMA. In fact, if he can avoid those factors, he does have a shot at upsetting.
