5 NFL Running Backs Who Will Improve In 2017 (And 5 Who Won't)

6. Down - Eddie Lacy

Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders avoids a tackle from David Rocker of the Los Angeles Rams for a four-yard run in the second quarter in Anaheim, California on Oct. 24, 1993. Sanders ran for 91-yards on 21 carries to help his team defeat the Rams 1

Eddie Lacy is one of the most frustrating stories in recent NFL history. As a member of the Green Bay Packers, he racked up 1,100+ rushing yards in his first two seasons, but has since fallen off a cliff.

His past two campaigns were plagued by injuries and his inability to stay at in acceptable playing shape. Heading into the 2017 season, he's left the Green Bay Packers for the Seattle Seahawks and he's looking to revitalize his career.

Unfortunately for Lacy, the Seahawks aren't in any position to be rehabbing a running back right now. Their offensive line currently stands as one of the worst in the league and they've put minimal effort towards improving it. While Lacy's slower, bruising running style is reminiscent of Marshawn Lynch, he's going to need help from his blockers to open up holes in the defense at least big enough for him to bust open.

It's unlikely the Seahawks o-line will be able to accomplish that much of the time. However, none of that will matter if Lacy can't keep his weight under control. Lacy could make a comeback, but it won't be easy or fun.

Virgil Atkinson hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
