5 Possible Ways To Stop Diving In The Premier League

5. A Straight Red Card For The First Offence

If there is one thing that players detest the most it is being prevented playing football matches. It€™s why they get frustrated during times of injury and suspension. Players go into games knowing that certain offenses have an increase chance of being punished with a red card. Therefore, we do not see them all that often, things like violent conduct, dangerous tackles and taking out an opposing player as the last man. However, when it comes to simulation they know that in the worst case scenario they will get a yellow card €“ and the best case scenario is winning a penalty. If the punishment was a straight red card for simulation then that would act as a sufficiently good deterrent to at least minimise its use. The problem though is it may lead to incorrect red cards when a referee mistakenly thinks that simulation was at play during a legitimate foul; players may also continue to get away with it by being clever.
