5 Predictions For UFC Fight Night Berlin
2. Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Dennis Siver
Once upon a time, Denis Siver and Tatsuya Kawajiri were two of the best fighters in the lightweight class. Siver found success in the octagon while Kawajiri was tearing in up in Japan
Both of their respective moves down to featherweight has been met with faint praise. Siver started off 2-1 until he got popped for steroids in his third outing which brought the German’s bandwagon to a screeching halt. Kawajiri’s featherweight campaign started off on the right foot with five straight wins, but he hasn’t made much noise in the UFC with a record of 1-1.
Siver is coming off an absolute thrashing at the hands of Connor McGregor while Kawajiri returns after a one year layoff because he suffered a detached retina in his left eye, for the third time, two months after losing a decision to Clay Guida.
When looking at the combative nucleus of the fight, it all boils down to whether or not Kawajiri can keep the fight in his wheelhouse. Unlike Guida, Siver isn’t the best at stopping the shot against a competent wrestler. Even though Kawajiri’s prime may have passed him by, his modus operandi of securing the takedown and working from top control will help him grind out a decision.
