5 Things We Learned From First Ever UFC Women's Strawweight Fight

5. The Excitement Is There

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd9Ru1sTolE It wasn't the stellar debut that Rousey vs. Carmouche was for the women's bantamweight division, but Gadelha and Lahdemaki put on an exciting back and forth fight. In the end though it was clearly won by Gadelha, despite the Finnish fighter picking up a round on one judge's scorecard. While it looked as if the fight might end via submission towards the end of the first, Lahdemaki was able to fend off Gadelha's multiple submission attempts, taking the fight into deep waters. "Jelly Bean" also landed some solid punches of her own towards the end of the fight, showing no quit. For her part, Gadelha, the favourite entering the night, threw some vicious kicks, and displayed dominant, explosive takedown ability. The girls that follow up this debut definitely have a hard act to top. There's no doubt they can live up to it however, these girls are here to compete!
