Arsenal Transfer News: Theo Walcott Wants New Deal

MailOnline, Arsenal's England star Theo Walcott used last night's matchday programme for his team's victory against Montpellier to reiterate his desire to sign a new deal at the club. Walcott missed the game thanks to a shoulder injury picked up in the 5-2 derby win over Tottenham at the weekend, but the Mail are suggesting that Arsenal may now be willing to reach a compromise with the player on a new deal:

"It€™s important for me that something gets sorted out, because I enjoy playing for this club. I don€™t think you can put a timeframe on when it will be resolved, though when both parties are sure, it will happen."
The Mail state that the former Southampton player had previously rejected the original £75,000-per-week offer, and that Arsenal chiefs had been unwilling to increase that initial offer, but now they are reporting that Arsenal's stance has now changed, and that the club are now willing to reach a compromise with Walcott. The suggested figure of that compromise is between £80,000 - £85,000-per-week which the Mail say is how much both parties believe will be enough to secure Walcott's future at the club. He has told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he wants to remain in North London but the Mail say that he wants a contract closer to £100,000-per-week, and Wenger will tell his bosses to increase their current offer in order to keep the in-form player in his squad. The Mail are also suggesting that both Liverpool and Chelsea are planning to move for Walcott in January and that champions Man City are keen to sign him on a free when his current deal expires in the summer. What do you think Arsenal fans? Should Arsenal break the bank to keep Walcott, or is it time for him to leave? Share your thoughts below.
