Aston Villa 0-2 Spurs: 5 Key Things We Learned

4. Benteke Really Lifts Villa

Aston Villa weren't without threats to the Spurs defence prior to Benteke's introduction in the 61st minute, but they were so much more threatening after he came on. The big Belgian striker had more chances in his first ten minutes on the pitch than Libor Kozak - the man he replaced - did in his whole hour in the game. Not only that, but the entire atmosphere changed inside Villa Park, as Villa's fans truly felt that Benteke could get them back in the game (they were 1-0 down when he came on) and Spurs had a raucous home crowd to deal with from that point on. Of course, Spurs would go on to score a second eight minutes after Benteke's introduction, but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that he had a very positive impact overall.
