Basketball: 4 Simple Reasons The UK Should Care

3. Lebron James

In 2003, €œKing James€ was drafted first overall and the NBA was changed forever. Lebron James came into the league and his impact was immediate and unrelenting. 9 years later and Lebron is now widely considered one of the greatest ever. No, he s not eligible for the Great Britain team, nor will he ever be, but, the UK should still take notice. Lebron is a exciting talent that can create fans by just watching him play. Legitimate conversations are taking place by fans and media alike about whether or not Lebron can finish as the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). Very few people are unaware of who Michael Jordan is. The reigning G.O.A.T, Charlotte Bobcats owner, and Jordan Brand CEO is finally having is legacy being threatened by a player that has changed the landscape of the game. Post players and the play in the paint/key dominated when Jordan came into the game. He came in as an electrifying perimeter scorer, and left as with 6 championships, multiple defensive awards, 5 MVP€™s, and a legacy that stands strong today; over 20 years after his first title. Kobe was considered the next Jordan but he has almost mirrored Jordan and become like a Jordan-lite. Lebron has created a new position- the point forward. Lebron€™s game almost lacks any flaws at all. He can score, rebound, and pass. In the last year he won a Gold Medal, NBA MVP, and NBA championship. He has shown an affinity for the game not seen since Jordan. He is truly a game changer. Lebron left his hometown team, the team that drafted him, and was made into the NBA€™s biggest villain just a few short years ago. But he has now become such a stupendous, earth-shattering star that many have forgotten his €œbetrayal€. Stars like Lebron only come around once in a generation. That is reason enough for the UK to start taking a keen interest. Think basketball€™s Lionel Messi.
