The Portuguese forward has spat his dummy out over accusations of tax fraud and is destined for the door after eight years in Madrid. With a return to Manchester United seemingly the obvious choice, Antonio Conte could try to rock the boat and attempt to bring the superstar to Stamford Bridge.

At 32, Ronaldo would still carry a huge transfer fee and reports say Madrid would do business if it matched the £80 million deal that made him depart England for sunnier shores in 2009. Although there won't be any sell-on value, the forward's goalscoring ability would be invaluable for any potential suitors and his proven record in the Premier League speaks for itself.

Having scored over 100 Champions League goals - the most by any player in the history of the competition - the Portuguese captain would also provide the firepower to see Conte's men become a force in Europe once again.

The Italian's no-nonsense approach would certainly see him able to handle the ego that comes in tow with Ronaldo and, although unlikely to happen, would possibly cement Chelsea's hold on the title.
