3. Jack Rodwell
Scott Heppell/AP/Press Association ImagesIf you suggested this transfer as little as two years ago most football fans would have laughed at your ridiculous joke. Jack Rodwell had been billed as a bright, young, versatile defensive midfielder who would provide some much needed muscle to proceedings at Manchester City. However, making the team in any position can be a tall order at City Rodwell has found this out the hard way, amassing only 16 league appearances in 2 seasons. Rodwells career has taken a nosedive since his departure from Everton and he is in desperate need of getting some consistent game time under his belt. If he continues to rot away in the reserves at Manchester City the once-exciting prospect may never be the same again. With the departure of Kagisho Dikgacoi to Cardiff after refusing a new three year deal with the Eagles, Rodwell would be the perfect man to fill the void left by the South African. Indeed, much like Dikgacoi, Rodwell is not averse to making meaty challenges but the Englishman would add some pace to the heart of the midfield. It was announced on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre that City had encouraged Rodwell to leave so a move to a smaller Premier League club like Palace will hopefully be on the cards.
