Admittedly, Luis Suarez hasn't played a huge amount of late, because of his suspension for inexcusably biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, but he is the still the best striker on the planet right now. Sergio Aguero certainly pushes him close, given his sensational form for Manchester City so far this season, but El Pistolero still has the edge. The 27-year-old was something special at Liverpool last season, scoring 31 goals in just 37 appearances, none of which were penalties and many of which were Goal of the Season contenders. There was a brief time when he was arguably the most influential player in world football. He single-handedly sent Uruguay through to the World Cup knockout stages after his two goals against England, before his act of madness tarnished his already iffy reputation. He has had a relatively slow start to life at Barcelona since his big-money move in the summer, scoring just twice in nine appearances, although six assists isn't exactly shabby. He will be phenomenal for them in the long run. Suarez is always going to be a controversial character- there is a side to his personality that he simply can't control- but he is an incredibly special footballer. He produces piece of skill that you marvel at, his finishing is world-class and his vision is a joy to watch. It shouldn't matter whether you like him or not, you should just appreciate him for the amazing player he is.
