Every Premier League Club's Worst Ever Goalkeeper

13. Everton - Paul Gerrard

Despite having a surname that would go on to become revered across the city, the blue half of Merseyside's Gerrard would not reach the same heights that his younger counterpart would go on to enjoy.

Paul Gerrard's career started brightly enough, making 18 appearances for England U21's before making the switch from his boyhood club Oldham to Everton for £1.5million, not a fee to scoff at for a young keeper in 1996.

However, despite the price tag, Gerrard failed to establish himself as Neville Southall's long-term successor and was often sent out on loan. His time at Goodison Park is probably best remembered for his injury that prompted Paulo Di Canio to complete his face turn by picking up the ball and refusing to score in the empty net.

Gerrard would go on to better things after leaving the club, but just 90 appearances across 8 years for the Toffees says it all.
