Fantasy Premier League Tips 2014: 15 Best Point-Per-Pound Buys

13. Tim Krul (Newcastle United) £4.5m

Last Season's Points Total: 123. Although Victor Mannone was the highest scoring goalkeeper of this value last season (134 points), he will probably lose his place this season, given that Sunderland have signed Manchester City's Romanian stopper Costel Pantilimon. Therefore, Krul is one of only two other goalkeepers of that value who performed relatively well last season in the fantasy league points table. Given that keepers are the lowest scorers anyway (the top one only scored 160 points last season), it seems a waste to spend £5 million or £6 million when you could be using those extra funds on areas of the pitch that are going to bring in more points. Not only that, but Krul is part of a Newcastle team that has done well in the transfer market this season and they'll be looking to improve all over the pitch as a result. If that results in Krul conceding less goals and scoring more points, all the more reason to snap him up while he's so cheap.
