1. Determination
It has been no secret that Lewis endured a troubled 2011. Marred by issues away from the track as well as several on-track incidents, Lewis used his pre-season to regain his focus and determination for the season ahead. He has made it publicly clear that he is not satisfied with winning just 1 world championship in his career and still regrets missing out on the championship to Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in 2007, a poor 2009 McLaren, missing out on 2010 and a mixture of issues in 2012 with a dominant Sebastian Vettel. Yes. I cant deny it, putting aside the fact that Im very proud and grateful that Ive had the chance to be competitive in a competitive car. But if I didnt feel that, I wouldnt be the driver that I am. Every year, I feel like Ive prepared myself and had the mental ability and skill to have won more but, just with the circumstances, we havent been able to do so. Its been a tough 10 or 15 years for this team. Im waiting for that time when they have their highest point. I hope at some stage its our turn.
2. Momentum
Lewis is going into the second half of the 2012 season on the back of winning the Hungarian Grand Prix and will be looking to build on this recent success following another race win in Canada as well as 3 podiums in Australia, Malaysia and China. Hamilton knows that the MP4-27 is one of the fastest cars on the grid and can go into the remaining races of the season confident that the car underneath him is capable of challenging for race wins. Having achieved pole position at the Australian, Malaysian and Spanish Grand Prix (before being excluded due to a rule infringement), there is no doubt that Lewis has the speed to deliver results on Saturday - he just needs to continue his form on Sunday and deliver the results that he is certainly capable of doing.
