Kimbo Slice Rumoured To Be Signing With Bellator
Has Kimbo Slice signed a deal with the Bellator MMA promotion?
There is mounting speculation that former UFC fighter Kimbo Slice has signed a deal with the Bellator MMA promotion. As of right now we can't confirm this rumour, but it has gained enough traction that dedicated MMA websites are picking up on the story. F4Wonline.com in their news update commented that a Slice / Bellator deal "would make sense if you think about it", particularly with the cult of celebrity which Slice possesses. Social media is currently loaded with the notion that Slice will be inking a Bellator deal, making it already MMA's biggest news story without anything even be confirmed. Bellator on Spike TV has been performing well, making some minor gains on the UFC and posting some impressive TV ratings for the level they're operating on. It isn't as if UFC are worried about the group, but they will certainly have noticed some of the strides taking place. Although not confirming anything, F4wonline speculates that the idea for Slice coming in might be to front the 5th of September Bellator show which will be going head to head with UFC on television. Slice, aged 40, is a limited MMA fighter, but he has a distinctive look and viral internet fame. People recognise him and know who he is, there's a good chance viewers might pick to watch him over characterless fighters in the UFC. In analysing any potential Kimbo Slice deal with Bellator, the conclusion has to be that the publicity can only be a good thing. Whether this deal ends up done or not, Bellator are getting their name out into the public consciousness.
