NFL 2018 Week 2 Review - 7 Points & Plays Everyone Is Talking About
4. The Surprise 2-0 Team
There are only seven teams currently sitting at 2-0: the Rams, the Jaguars, the Bengals, the Chiefs, the Broncos, the Dolphins and the Buccaneers. Yes, the Buccaneers. Expected to be near the bottom of every stat list this season, the Buccs have made a remarkable start. Ryan Fitzpatrick has stepped in for the suspended Jameis Winston, and in a stretch of games that were considered to be damage limitation, has come out with two spectacular wins.
Mike Evans and DeShaun Jackson create a dynamic duo either side of the snap at wide receiver so that Fitz has been throwing to with relative ease. Having connected for seven touchdowns in just two games, Fitzpatrick has given the Buccaneers an unexpected and unfamiliar spring in their step. What makes the two wins even more appetising is both New Orleans Saints and the reigning Superbowl champions, The Eagles, were expecting to make deep play off runs, which emphasises the quality that Tampa Bay has discovered.
The Buccs' fans finally have a reason to be optimistic and are fully behind the ‘Fitz-magic’ bandwagon. The quarterback job will be up for grabs when Winston's ban is uplifted in Week 4 and the starter may find himself left on the bench for the foreseeable future. As good as the backup journeyman quarterback has been in play on the field in Winston’s absence, there is no explaining his dress sense in the post game interview. It truly is something to behold.
