Predicting All 12 UFC Champions One Year From Now
1. Heavyweight Champion - Daniel Cormier
There is only one fight for UFC to make here: Daniel Cormier vs. Brock Lesnar. The title changed hands from Stipe Miocic to Cormier at UFC 226, and then things got really interesting when Brock Lesnar stormed the cage and cut an awesome WWE-style promo. Of course, Brock can't compete in UFC until his USADA suspension expires in January, so look for that to be the month for this title fight.
Cormier vs. Brock is a fascinating match-up because Brock obviously has excellent wrestling, but DC's wrestling is out-of-this-world. Therefore Brock's biggest advantage is nullified, and Cormier has better stand-up. Cormier is the safe bet.
Elsewhere at heavyweight, you can expect Curtis Blaydes to face either Stipe Miocic or Derrick Lewis, in what could be a number one contender bout. However, there's two wild cards here: Jon Jones and Cain Velasquez. Jones is currently suspended but will undoubtedly return and a heavyweight bout with Cormier is pure money. While Velasquez wants to return, he won't fight his friend Cormier. Then we have the champion's coach reckoning he will retire next year, leaving the heavyweight division wide open for Lesnar, Jones, Velasquez, Blaydes, Lewis and Miocic. This is going to be fun!
