Roberto Martinez Set To Be Named Liverpool Manager

According to the Wigan Chairman Dave Whelan, 38-year-old Roberto Martinez has been offered a chance to manage Liverpool FC.

"I have just spoken to Roberto, he went yesterday to Miami and had a very constructive meeting with the owner of Liverpool. They're going to talk again on Tuesday. They've made Roberto an offer and he has agreed to consider it."
Whelan added:
"He is also aware that I have said 'I'd love to keep you but I need a decision by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. If we lose him we've got to move and appoint someone for Wigan€

Martinez€™s Managerial Record

The Spaniard began his managerial career in 2007 when he took charge of Swansea City. In the eleven games of the season, Martinez managed to only loose once and then again in the League One play-off final. In his second year at the club he gained promotion to the Championship only to leave to manage Premier League side Wigan in 2009. Martinez€™s win ration for Wigan is only 26.77%, his 127 matches he has managed them Wigan have only managed 34 wins. After Kenny Dalglish was released of his duties at Anfield, it looks like Martinez is the number one option for JW Henry. Having not finished in the top four of the Premier League for two consecutive years, Martinez has a challenge especially when the majority of his time at Wigan was fighting relegation.
