Sunderland Leading Transfer Race For Wolves' Karl Henry

Sunderland will give a Premier League lifeline to Wolves hardman midfielder Karl Henry in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror. The 29-year-old captained Wolves for two seasons before Roger Johnson was given the armband last summer (though in recent weeks Henry has had the armband restored), is known for his tough tackling and mean presence and is wanted by Martin O'Neill as another option to Lee Cattermole who likewise finds himself all too often in the dugout suspended. O'Neill watched Henry closely in Saturday's 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light and as Wolves' battle to survive looks impossible, the player would welcome a move back to the Premier League and the club would be willing to sell a top assist to make funds. Meanwhile Wolves' midlands rivals West Brom are also said to be considering a cut-price move for Henry in the summer. Henry has played over 200 times for Wolves, scoring six goals.
