UFC: 5 Reasons Mark Hunt Will Fail To Claim Heavyweight Gold
4. The Weight Cut Will Be Grueling
Mark Hunt is a big guy (check out his weight in the image above) who tends to let his weight balloon up over three hundred pounds between fights. Against Roy Nelson in September he had just about a day to cut almost twenty pounds. He's looking at dropping somewhere between thirty to forty pounds on short notice for his fight at UFC 180 against Fabricio Werdum. It's for the belt, and UFC gold is something Hunt has always dreamed off, damn those who felt it was unlikely. There's no way he'd turn this fight down, and he can cut the weight - he did it against Nelson in similar fashion despite having more notice. Werdum, however, is a tougher foe, less powerful maybe, but with a more varied arsenal. Will Hunt be fatigued? He didn't need to go past a round against Nelson. He can go five rounds - he proved that against Bigfoot Silva - but this massive cut on short notice won't help stamina.
