UFC Fight Night 42: 11 Matches To Make For The Winners

2. Diego Sanchez

Sanchez I'm a Diego Sanchez fan, and even I have to admit that "The Dream" lost his fight Saturday night. Having said that, the scorecards reflected otherwise, and the home town fave was awarded a curious decision over Ross Pearson in Albuquerque. This puts the UFC and Sanchez in an interesting position. Coming off a win, he should be paired up with another winner. He's always entertaining, but probably won't ever win gold. He can easily co-headline a card, he has won seven Fight of the Night awards, and was twice part of the Fight of the Year. His bout with Gilbert Melendez last October was also in the running for Fight of the Year. At this point, as long as Sanchez wants to keep going, he can be booked into some pretty profitable, entertaining matches, but the UFC would be wise to put him into matches that play to his strengths. I'm not saying outright protect the guy; I don't get the feeling he'd be okay with that anyway, but he's a guy that wants to entertain: so let him. Ultimate Fighter 13 winner Tony Ferguson is coming off a recent TKO win, and could be a fun fight for fans. Joe Lauzon hasn't fought since December, but if these two were to be paired up, it would be all out war.
