World Cup 2014: Scenarios For All 9 UEFA Qualifying Groups

Group I - Belarus, Finland, France, Georgia, and Spain

The smallest of the nine groups means there is less room for error. It has two titans, Spain and France. Currently, Spain holds the edge with a four points in their only two matchups against Les Bleus. Team Played W D L GF GA GD Pts Spain 5 3 2 0 8 2 6 11 France 5 3 1 1 8 4 6 10 Georgia 5 1 1 3 3 7 -4 4 Belarus 4 1 0 3 3 8 -5 3 Finland 3 0 2 1 2 3 -1 2 The rest of the group leaves much to be desired. Finland has the largest potential remaining with five games on the docket, but only two of them at home against Belarus and juggernauts Spain. If it weren't for a freak draw in Gijón, they would have already been written off. Georgia and Belarus have only been able to gain victories against one another and have the two worst goal differentials of -4 and -5 respectively. The only threat to Spain's automatic qualification will be France, who need all the help they can get to reach the top. The two face each of the bottom three once for the remainder of their fixtures. Both should win out. The only hope for France will come on September 6th and hope that Finland can upset Spain in Helsinki.
