20 Things You Somehow Missed In Andor
12. Andor Is A Spiritual Successor To A Star Wars Show That Never Happened
It's no secret that Andor is far more grounded in tone and feeling compared to its contemporaries on the TV and film side of Star Wars. What many might not know is that the 2022 political drama was in some ways a spiritual successor to a series that George Lucas himself announced in the early 2000s, following the release of the Prequel Trilogy.
Titled Star Wars: Underworld, the show was supposed to be set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, much like Rogue One and Andor and would have primarily taken place on Coruscant. Furthermore, it would have focused on minor characters from the first two trilogies with the possibility of appearances from mainstays such as Darth Maul, Leia Organa and Emperor Palpatine.
Despite its relatively grounded tone a la Andor, it was still a Star Wars show and the money, manpower, technology and material needed to bring it to life in the 2000s was not feasible, and as a result it never got off the ground.
