10 Most Satisfying Character-Arcs In Star Trek

9. Beckett Mariner

Beckett Mariner had already experienced some really horrible stuff by the time she was transferred to the Cerritos in Lower Decks. She was trapped inside a sentient cave, held in a Klingon prison, and even served aboard Deep Space Nine during the Dominion War.

The war was very hard on Mariner. Witnessing so much senseless death made her grow resentful and jaded. Still, she remained committed to the idea of Starfleet, even after being demoted several times. She knows Starfleet has its problems, but she would never betray them like Nick Locarno. She knows that Starfleet has the potential to become better.

It seems like Mariner is finally starting to come to terms with her self-destructive behaviour. She has had a long time to reflect on her past and move forward. We expect that the final season of Lower Decks will show us a version of Mariner who is much more confident in herself and her friends.
