The bromance between Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen has become something of Internet legend. Fans may be surprised to find out that while they knew of each other for years, it would only be in their later lives, acting alongside each other in the X-Men films, that they would first work together. They hadn't even become friends until that point! Stewart recounts how the pair have managed to continue a single conversation for over 23 years and it's still going in an almost unbroken manner.

The pair's relationship has gone from strength to strength in a matter of years, with McKellen getting ordained via the internet to marry Patrick and his wife, musician Sunny Ozell.

McKellen would marry the couple at a Mexican restaurant in California during the run of their Waiting for Godot/No Man's Land double-header tour. As part of that, the pair would embark on a blitz of social media photos at famous locations in New York City.

Entitled Gogo and Dido do NYC it saw the pair don their characters' bowler hats and even bumping into one Leonard Nimoy while hopping in and out of a waiting car.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
