Star Trek: 10 Disastrous USS Voyager First Contacts

First contacts don't really get more disastrous than when one ship has to blow the other up at the end. The Malon quite literally didn't leave Voyager much room for manoeuvre, however, as they approached the vortex in Night. Captain Janeway's "Time to take out the garbage!" might arguably have been a bit extreme, but at least it was well phrased in the moment.

The Malon, or at least a portion of their society, are the filthy industrialists of the Delta Quadrant. A warp-capable species, they lack the proper technology to process antimatter waste, exporting and dumping it in open space instead, often with little concern for its effect on the locals. Any similarity to actual persons is purely coincidental, of course.

Transporter pad diplomacy's always a tough one, but then Controller Emck, Malon exporter and poisoner of the Void, was thoroughly leaking theta radiation. They probably had to do more than a baryon sweep in engineering after his unceremonious visit. Second contact was equally catastrophic (especially for the Malon once more), but we did get the Delta Flyer out of it! Third time was hardly a charm either, in the greasy confines of a Malon vessel.
