Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Beverly Crusher

Throughout the run of The Next Generation movies in particular (and arguably during the series as well), Doctor Crusher wasn't given an awful lot to do. In Star Trek: Generations, the character was essentially just a punchline for Data's emotional development. In Star Trek: First Contact, she activated the EMH, gave her command code (the title of this entry), and not much more. In Star Trek: Insurrection, Crusher had a couple of lines, and then there was that bit about boobs. In Star Trek: Nemesis, well, blink and you'll miss her.

It's also telling that in amongst the deleted scenes in Nemesis (although there are quite a few) lies the one that would have explained what Crusher did next, i.e. go (back) to work at Starfleet Medical. That could never be canon now anyway, as in Star Trek: Picard, Beverly remained on the Enterprise-E until 2381, not long after coitus and call-back on Casperia Prime.

"Wait, so I was in those films?" Gates McFadden remarked, tongue-in-cheek, during a 92nd Street Y panel alongside Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, and Jonathan Frakes ahead of season three of Picard. In fact, expressly disappointed by how Doctor Crusher was portrayed, McFadden went on to say, "So I'm thrilled with what's going on now."
