While both Sherlock and The IT Crowd were incredibly popular throughout their respective runs on TV, neither were quite able to capture the hearts of an entire country quite like Gavin and Stacey. Few would ever be able to match the popularity of the show, it is nothing short of a British institution.
Despite following the love story of the two titular characters, Gavin and Stacey grew to be about their respective families as much as themselves. Smithy and Nessa are without question two of the most popular characters on the show, and who better to take us through from season one again than James Corden and Ruth Jones?
The two just so happen to also be the creators of the show, and though Corden's career has skyrocketed across the pond, there's no reason to think he wouldn't want to return to the show in this way. After all, there was the Christmas special in 2019 that brought Smithy back to our screens, and if the reception to this is anything to go by, fans would jump at the chance to hear the star-crossed love story retold in this way.
