Game Of Thrones: 25 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See

As seen in the fact that some famous swords crop up in the Iron Throne, the show isn€™t afraid of reusing old props. That recycling led to one of the more infamous Easter eggs in the show. In the season one finale, when Joffrey is showing poor Sansa the newly-decapitated head of her father, there€™s a fleeting glimpse of another famous face: the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush. Weiss and Benioff made sure to state on the DVD commentary that it was just an old prop and not some political statement, and it has since been edited out, while HBO issued a statement on the matter: €œWe were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.€
