10. Cersei Reveals The Truth To Tywin

A day before Tyrion's sentence, Cersei strides into the Tower of the Hand and flat out states to her father that she will not comply with her order to marry Loras Tyrell. Tywin questions her loyalty to the family, but Cersei makes the case that family is what she cares about the most to the point where she would have killed Tommen just to spare him the pain of death at the hands of Stannis. She will not leave her last child to live at High Garden; she will stay with Tommen and Jaime. She threatens the Lannister legacy by essentially blackmailing Tywin with the fact that the rumor of the incestuous relationship between her and Jaime is true. Tywin refuses to believe it, but it is there all the same. The most notable takeaway from this scene is that, perhaps for the first time, Tywin is bested. All that he has worked for is on the line, and if Cersei were to go public with these facts it would all be ruined. He literally has nothing to bargain with and Cersei loves it. This is also a huge breakthrough for her in that she looks to finally accept the idea of going public with her relationship with Jaime, which he had wanted for a long time. How this will change the dynamic of this relationship going forward certainly intrigues.
