Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'A Knight Of Seven Kingdoms' REALLY Means

1. The Dead Are Here (But The Night King's Not)

Game Of Thrones Hardhome Night King
HBO

The most notable thing about the arrival of the Army Of The Dead wasn't just that it was absolutely huge, it's that their beloved (possibly) leader wasn't among them when they arrived on the fields in front of Winterfell.

Maybe he has other plans?

There's a very good possibility that the Night King knows of his importance to Bran and is trying to be discreet. Or it could be that he's sending his own army to Winterfell with the same agenda as Dany and Jon's army are ready to greet him. Both sides can have the same distraction technique, can't they?

The Night King will make his appearance at some point, but it's fairly obvious that he doesn't need to be involved in this battle. He is a prime target (and he should know by now that his enemies know about the link between the White Walker who creates the wights and what happens to them when they die). He's enough of a brilliant strategist to know that his enemies will aim to cut off the serpent's head.

Which makes the entire Bran plan somewhat flawed...
