4. Don’t Need To See: Ronda Rousey Vs. Cris Cyborg
A few years back, both Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg looked unbeatable. During that time, a matchup between these two superstars would have been an MMA fan's dream.
However, all that in changed back in November of 2015, when Holly Holm landed a beautifully timed head kick and ended Rousey's reign of terror in the UFC.
Following her loss to Holm, the former Olympian went on to face Amanda Nunes and was knocked out in just 51 seconds. After the bout, Rousey would step away from the octagon and head to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Cris Cyborg, on the other hand, would continue to dominate her opponents, right up until her loss to Amanda Nunes this past December. Despite her recent setback, Cyborg remains one of the most dangerous fighters in women's MMA.
Even today, despite the fact that Rousey has lost 2 in a row and hasn't fought since 2016, this fight would still sell a ton of pay-per-views. After all, these are 2 of the biggest names in the sport. However, the contest itself probably wouldn't be able to live up to the hype.
Besides the fact that Cyborg, who competes at featherweight, is much larger than the former bantamweight queen —Rousey's time away from the sport is also problematic. Moreover, in her most recent bouts, the WWE star has struggled in the striking department — which is an area that Cyborg excels in.
Rousey would need to spend a great deal of time working on her stand up game to have a chance against Cris Cyborg —and even then she would probably need more than a little luck.
We now know that neither one of these fighters are invincible and the mystique surrounding this fight is long gone.
