Maycee Barber's Father Confirms Torn ACL After UFC 246

It doesn't look good for 'The Future'...

If it wasn't bad enough that Maycee Barber left the T-Mobile arena on Saturday night with her first loss, her father Bucky Barber just revealed that she suffered a torn ACL at UFC 246 and will likely now be out for an extended period of time.

ESPN broke the news after speaking with Barber's father and he admitted that 'we think she injured it in the first 10 seconds, she stepped on Roxanne’s foot as she backed up and felt a pop. You can see the knee give out on the side.'

So this disproves the idea that many people felt Barber suffered the injury mid-way through the second round, after she was stiffly jabbed by Roxanne Modaferri.

This also really hammers home just how tough the young fighter actually is. Fighting for 15 minutes against a top grappler like Modaferri is one thing, to do it on one knee for the majority of the clash is quite simply astounding.

She is expected to be on the sidelines for the next 9-12 months, after she undergoes reconstructive surgery on the knee.

So, any hope of seeing Barber fight again in 2020 is slim, but not impossible.

We wish her a speedy recovery and if she can get another win on her record by the end of the year, she could still set up that Valentina Shevchenko Flyweight title fight and become the youngest fighter to ever win a UFC title.
