10 Amazing Small WWE Royal Rumble Moments You May Have Missed

4. Fit Finlay’s Finest Hour - Royal Rumble 2019

Northern Irish legend Fit Finlay has had a true hall of fame career twice. Inside the ring, he was one of the stiffest, most frightening brawlers WCW and WWE had to offer. As a trainer, he’s majorly responsible for helping the women’s roster get where they wanted to be. Rarely, though, was the career midcarder the recipient of a gigantic pop.

This all changed in 2019, and all he had to do was wave Becky Lynch down to the ring. Then reaching the peak of her run as The Man, Lynch had opened the show in a losing effort to Asuka. Shades of Daniel Bryan started to cloud the evening as the women’s Rumble reached #30 with no signs of the people’s choice.

But then, with Lana stricken after a beating from Nia Jax, Lynch stormed to the ring. She remonstrated with Finlay, who eventually ushered her to the squared circle with a weary wave of his arms. The pop is absolutely gigantic.

It’s not just great for Fit’s sake, or for Becky’s - it’s nice to have the Rumble’s admin made clear, for once. Many’s the time a competitor will be knocked out en route and they never make it to the ring, or someone else steals their spot without a discussion. It may be a Royal Rumble, bit it still has to make some sense!
