Wrestling fans are very familiar with the phrase "plans change" because the nature of wrestling means that it's not so easy to stick to a script, particularly during Vince McMahon's chaotic reign. In fact, sometimes changing course is the right thing to do.

Characters losing or suddenly gaining momentum week-to-week can alter a potential card, let alone the usual run of illnesses, injuries and contract disputes. They say "anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation" and by extension anything can also not happen.

There have been countless examples of wrestling matches and storylines that were at the very least considered before being cast aside for something else. Sometimes what we got instead is a vast improvement, no questions asked, but occasionally you hear of an awesome idea that sadly didn't see the bright lights.

This particular WrestleMania-flavoured edition will look at prospective plans that got changed along the long and bumpy road to the Grandest Stage of Them All. They all share one thing in common however and that's that they sound like fun ideas that unfortunately, for any number of reasons, didn't pan out.

10. The Miz Vs Ultimate Warrior - WrestleMania XXVIII Or 29

There’s something special about our favourite wrestlers coming back after a long time away. More than that, it’s even better when a current day star gets to get into the ring with someone they grew up watching.

The Miz’s favourite wrestler as a kid was the brightly-coloured purveyor of intense promos himself The Ultimate Warrior. Recently, The A-Lister revealed on his TikTok account that he had pushed for a dream scenario backstage that would’ve put him in direct contact with his hero.

The idea played into the character's desire to be recognised as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time by going over several previous title holders. Miz pitched a “gauntlet lumberjack match” where he would face five previous champions one-by-one and overcome all the odds only for a sixth secret competitor to be revealed.

It’s hard not to imagine how huge the reaction to the Ultimate Warrior’s music hitting at WrestleMania would be as he stormed down to the ring to hit Miz with three clotheslines and a splash.

Which WrestleMania Miz is referring is hard to place because he came into the Show of Shows as IC champ in both 2012 and 2013. However, this idea never came to fruition and never will with Warrior’s passing in 2014.
