10 Awesome Matches On Awful WWE Shows

1. Steve Austin Vs Bret Hart (WrestleMania 13)

WWE

Quite possibly the greatest wrestling match of all time happened at WrestleMania 13 between Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. The bloody, dramatic, perfect contest between the most important wrestler of the company's then-present and its then-future has become an iconic piece of work, not only for what it did inside the ring but the lasting effects it had on the industry and Austin's career in particular.

The match saw Bret, angered by Austin costing him a shot at the WWE Championship on a number of occasions, engage 'The Rattlesnake' in a unique no hold barred submission match. With Ken Shamrock as the referee, the two greats proceeded to brawl around the arena, upend the ringside area and assault each other with various weapons and dangerous moves.

The iconic finish saw Hart brutally target the leg of Austin, who then passed out in a pool of his own blood to the Sharpshooter, executing a double turn that propelled 'Stone Cold' into superstardom.

There is not much else to say about the rest of the card. The Rock, Triple H, and Rikishi all appeared as characters they would soon move away from, whilst a promising-sounding tag team match between Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Vader, and Mankind went to a double count-out.

The rest of the show almost doesn't matter though, as fans can watch the classic match-up between Hart and Austin and be more than content with the time they have spent.
