10 Best Matches In NXT TakeOver History
7. The Revival Vs. American Alpha (TakeOver: The End, 2016)
How do you pick The Revival’s best match? It’s a tough task. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have been a revelation in NXT’s tag division, and after years of struggling to separate themselves from the pack, they’ve built a reputation as two of WWE’s most reliable performers. Eschewing flips and flashiness for old-fashioned brawling and tag psychology, they’re a joy to watch, and their series with American Alpha nothing short of fantastic.
Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are a great unit brimming with chemistry themselves, and whenever they stepped into the ring with The Revival, magic happened. Their first clash at TakeOver: Dallas was outstanding, but The End took things up a notch.
For four relatively unknown wrestlers operating in a developmental brand, this match was stunningly good. From counters and hot tags to strikes and submissions, this match had it all. The nearfalls were particularly out of control, and the quartet built towards a stunningly dramatic conclusion that saw The Revival walk away with the win, and the NXT Tag Team Titles around their waists.
It lacked some of Dallas’ livewire crowd reactions, but it’s hard to take away from this match. American Alpha have outstanding chemistry with The Revival, so here’s hoping the two teams clash again whenever Dash and Dawson make it to the main roster.
