Modern-day wrestling monsters are almost always presented as heels, as it is easy to portray massive athletes in an intimidating way. This was not the case with Andre the Giant for much of his wrestling career, as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World' was beloved by wrestling fans.

So, when Andre turned heel and aligned himself with the dastardly Bobby Heenan to face longtime ally Hulk Hogan, it was a huge change. The most anticipated wrestling match ever took place at WrestleMania III, where 'The Hulkster' body-slammed and pinned the behemoth to defend the WWE Championship.

Andre would continue his alliance with Heenan and was hired by the 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase to win the WWE Title from Hogan, which he did just before WrestleMania IV. The partnership of the Mega Bucks took on the Mega Powers of Hogan and the new World Champion, Randy Savage, at the inaugural SummerSlam.

Andre's heel turn and alliance with Heenan and DiBiase was the quintessential example of a monster henchman, which helped WWE achieve its biggest boom period throughout the Golden Era of the late '80s.
