On July 7th, 1996 the wrestling world was drastically shaken up, never to be the same. A six-man tag match in the main event of Bash at the Beach turned a couple of outsiders into a New World Order.

It began in a hail of thrown garbage and shouted expletives. It was in response to a thunderous Legdrop heard the world over. A hero, THE wrestling hero, turned his back on all of his rabid supporters, his company, and his fellow wrestlers. This turn wasn't a warning shot against WCW, it was a full-out declaration of war.

That moment helped propel an explosion of wrestling popularity that spread throughout the world. While WCW and the WWF had been battling for a couple years, WCW soon pulled away, setting the stage for over 80 weeks of wrestling dominance. The nWo gave fans countless great memories (and quite a few lousy ones as well), and is one of the most iconic stables of all time.

The group is one year away from being able to legally drink in the United States, and the 20 year anniversary seems like the perfect opportunity to relive their 10 best moments.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
