10 Best Shane McMahon Matches Of All Time

10. Vs. X-Pac - No Mercy (UK) 1999

In 1999 there were actually two No Mercy events, the first of which took place in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Shane was still very new to in-ring competition at this point but he had managed to win the European Championship from X-Pac. This was mostly due to assistance from his allies in the Corporation, but sooner or later Shane knew he would have to step up to the plate and stand on his own two feet. X-Pac and Shane would compete in a match at WrestleMania, which was actually well-worked and just about stole the show. Their No Mercy bout followed similar lines. Shane's inexperience would get the best of him to begin with, before the outside interference and shenanigans would begin and turn the tide in his favour. Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and Chyna would get involved, but it was Triple H who would provide the telling contribution. D-Generation X had split at this point, with Triple H siding with the Corporation. He hit X-Pac with a Pedigree, allowing Shane to pick up the victory. Not a classic by any means, but it was clear that Shane was learning quickly and could hold his own out there.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
