10 Best Tag Teams WWE Has Created Over The Past Decade
5. American Alpha
Jason Jordan spent months looking for the right tag team partner in NXT, but when he finally found Chad Gable, he knew that his long search was at an end. Like The Revival, American Alpha have hugely similar styles and compliment one another perfectly. However, their athleticism and energy have allowed Jordan and Gable to become hugely popular babyfaces.
Both Jordan and Gable have amateur wrestling backgrounds - Jordan reached the NCAA championships, while Gable competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Like Kurt Angle before them, they took to pro wrestling instantly, channeling the intensity that comes with "real" wrestling into a fiery competitiveness in the ring. They've drawn comparisons to another pair of former amateur standouts - The World's Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin.
The differences between Jordan and Gable allow them to play roles in their team - Gable, the smaller of the two men, typically takes the heat in a match, selling in a way that doesn't hurt him as a babyface and belies his short time in the business. Then he makes the hot tag to Jordan, who launches opponents with a flurry of breathtaking suplexes. It's a formula that's brought them great success, and will only continue to do so.
