10. Boxing Match: Mr. T vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper - WrestleMania 2
The rivalry between television and film star Mr. T and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper did not end at WrestleMania I, when Mr. T partnered with Hulk Hogan to defeat Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. No, the intense hatred between the stars, both on- and off-screen, necessitated a rematch on the biggest stage in professional wrestling. This would not be a traditional wrestling match, however. Piper rightfully refused to do that job for Mr. T, who was a non-wrestler and thus, did not have to rely on the business for a living. Unlike the Hot Scot. Thus, a Boxing match was booked for the most important show of the year. The stipulation would allow for Mr. T to go over without Piper losing any credibility in defeat. To say the match was awful would be an understatement. Piper is very outspoken about his disdain for his performance, not to mention the overall quality of the contest, and continues to voice his dislike for Mr. T. The tension, dislike and distrust between them was apparent from the moment the bell rang, as was their unwillingness to work with one another. Still, the hype was so good, the spotlight so bright that the match has earned a place on this list. At least until another celebrity comes along and has a better match. Which should not be difficult.
