The ending of Shayna Baszler's reign was disappointing in some ways. Baszler had held the championship for over a year and had helped elevate this new generation of the NXT women's division, and instead of going into a natural feud with the likes of a returning Dakota Kai or Bianca Belair at a TakeOver, she dropped the championship to Rhea Ripley, a woman she had no history with before TakeOver WarGames, on an episode of NXT TV. It could be viewed as a mediocre end to a wonderful championship reign.,

Yet, the match with Rhea Ripley for the NXT's women's championship delivered on its own terms. It was not the kind of match that would have happened in a pre-USA Network episode of NXT, and was one of the first signs of positive changes to the weekly product in this new environment.

Ripley looked like a star, showing off her improved offence and surprisingly convincing babyface momentum against the resilient Baszler. In spite of the build not being what it could have been, Rhea's win delighted the fans in attendance and it was a wonderful moment to propel her up the card as a singles star.
