June 27, 2011 remains one of the most infamous moments in Raw history. It was on that night that CM Punk dropped his first pipebomb on WWE programming, setting a course that would forever change the company's direction. Punk's promo that night was essentially the beginning of what Triple H recently referred to as The Reality Era, an era in which the lines between fact and fiction have become deceptively blurred. The word deceptively is key here, because the fact is that when it comes to professional wrestling, everything is a work. With that being the case, it was difficult for fans to know if Punk was actually breaking kayfabe and speaking his mind on Raw or if he was simply just in character for a coming storyline. In either case, the wrestling world exploded on the day after his pipebomb was dropped. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ms0DFxpptk Punk was over to the moon, he could quite simply do no wrong during that time. Fans immediately flocked to him and supported him through his run to winning the WWE Championship from John Cena at Money in the Bank and beyond. The Second City Saint gave a voice to those fans that had been complaining for years about the direction of the company. They related to him, they believed in him and at the end of the day they felt as though he was speaking for them. It stands as one of the greatest endings in Raw history, one that defined the career of The Best in the World.
