10 Best WWE SummerSlam Main Events Ever

1. Bret Hart vs. The British Bulldog (1992)

To this day, Bret Hart regards the main event of SummerSlam 1992 as his finest performance ever. Not only was the 'Hitman' proud of his own showing on the night, but he also had to carry his match against The British Bulldog from start to finish. Blowing up badly, Bulldog whispered to Bret that he couldn't go on, just 15 minutes into the bout. Encouraging his friend to continue, Hart kept a cool head. More than 80,000 people jam-packed the old Wembley Stadium in London, England to see SummerSlam. Originally, Bret had been scheduled to work with Shawn Michaels on the show, but when it was moved to the UK, The British Bulldog was the natural choice. It was the first time the Intercontinental Title had headlined the event, but both men put on a match worthy of that main event position. At just over 25 minutes, Hart vs. Bulldog wasn't the longest match on the card. That honour would go to the WWF Title scrap between champion Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior. In the main event, Bulldog would come out on top, and his Intercontinental Title win is still one of the most cherished moments in SummerSlam history.
