9. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar (2003)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2FDP2CBDok While Evolution ran rampant on the Raw roster throughout the course of 2003, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar were tearing it up on SmackDown. Lesnar, less than one year after debuting in WWE, won the 2003 Royal Rumble match, earning an opportunity at a world championship at WrestleMania 19. He'd take on Angle for the WWE Championship at the event and defeat him in an instant classic to win the gold for the second time in his career. Although Angle took time off shortly thereafter to tend to nagging neck injuries, he'd return in June to resume his rivalry with Lesnar. He'd win back the strap in a Triple Threat match also involving Big Show at July's Vengeance event, setting the stage for his highly anticipated rematch with Lesnar at SummerSlam. The only difference this time around was that the tables had been turned with Angle as the face and Lesnar as the heel. While it was a very good mat wrestling match between the two amazing athletes, it couldn't quite measure up to clinic they put on at WrestleMania that year. Their Iron Man match on SmackDown the following month would also prove to be better than this contest. However, for what it was, it was yet another entertaining chapter in the long running rivalry between Lesnar and Angle. Unlike at The Show of Shows, Angle emerged victorious, retaining his title and handing Lesnar his first ever submission loss in singles competition in the process.
