10 Biggest Overachievers In Wrestling

9. The Miz

Nobody gave The Miz a chance when he signed with the WWE in 2004. Coming from a reality TV background, the unbelievably obnoxious Mike Mizanin piqued WWE's interest due to his spirit performances in the awful Tough Enough contest. Despite coming second, WWE offered him a contract anyway. After reporting to OVW for further training, MIz was deemed TV ready by June 2006. He was the 'host' of Smackdown and didn't compete in the ring. He completely butchered the hosting of the 2006 Raw Diva Search, forgetting the rules of the competition along with the phone number. He was ribbed for it backstage. But light backstage ribbing was the worst of Miz's problems. Naturally unlikeable, Miz managed to alienate or just plain p*** off most of his colleagues. Chris Benoit threw him out of the locker room after he found Miz spilling fried chicken over his and others' bags. Still, Miz kept at it and struck gold with a highly entertaining tag team with John Morrison. The two gelled together and Miz got better in the ring. Miz slowly climbed the ladder, improved his ring work and look and, by November 22nd 2010, WWE believed he was ready to win the WWE Championship, which he did by defeating Randy Orton on Raw. Miz's title reign wasn't a resounding success and it's still hard to believe that he not only headlined WrestleMania XXVII, but actually walked out still WWE Champion. Miz lost the belt shortly thereafter and hasn't been around that scene since. He has found his niche as a midcard heel. By headlining 'Mania and winning the WWE Championship (not to mention marrying Maryse), it's safe to say that The Miz wildly overachieved.
