10 Biggest Problems Facing WWE Creative At The Moment

6. Rebuilding Bayley

Few WWE babyfaces have suffered more than Bayley recently. The former Raw Women’s Champion’s main roster run has been one botch after another, and from winning the title too early to the disastrous Alexa Bliss feud, she has become Raw’s biggest loser. They’ve killed all that was unique about Bayley, and her crowd reactions aren’t even a fraction of what they used to be.

This is the most spectacular destruction of a potentially white-hot babyface commodity in years. At a time when WWE’s audience is ageing at a worrying rate, Creative have ran the wrestler with the greatest appeal to younger fans into the ground. This is inexplicable, and while a rebuilt Bayley could help draw those demographics back to the product, it’s hard to see how she rebounds from the embarrassment of the last few months.

Building sympathy isn’t easy, but in constantly beating fans over the head with the idea that Bayley is a complete loser, all Creative have succeeded in doing is turning her into a joke. She doesn’t feel like an underdog, but an over-matched weakling, and when potential heroes are portrayed in such away, perhaps it’s no surprise that younger viewers are switching off.
