10 Challengers Who Should Face CM Punk For The AEW World Championship
1. MJF
MJF is the man who should beat CM Punk for the title.
While Punk won the last match of their feud at Revolution, the two are 1-1 against each other. And after his own 'pipe bomb' promo on the 1 June episode of Dynamite, the parallels between the two men have never been clearer. Punk may have gotten the upper hand at Revolution, using his victory to propel himself towards winning the title, but MJF will have the last laugh.
Their rivalry was everything fans hoped for and more, playing on their personal history as well as their mutual love of classic wrestling storytelling. The dog collar match wasn't just a brutal payoff match, it was their own love letter to the great feuds of the past. And just like Piper and Valentine, Punk and MJF will find each other again and again.
MJF's stock has never been higher with fans, and neither has his value to WWE. Cody Rhodes' departure was surreal, but MJF jumping ship would be a bigger deal despite being more predictable. While it seems like the two parties are working together for now, MJF's grievances are very real. It makes sense for all involved to see the gold around the waist of Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
And it makes even more sense for Wardlow to be the one to take it from him.
