10 Contenders For The First AEW Midcard Championship
9. Shawn Spears
It's safe to say that Shawn Spears has been around the block.
From an appearance as "Stan" in that DX skit to Tye Dillinger, Spears has had a rollercoaster of a career, which took another turn when he signed for AEW earlier this year. He quickly made an impact - quite literally, when it came to the side of Cody's head.
With Tully Blanchard in his corner and string of great matches to his name, Spears has now established himself in AEW. Now he needs something else to do, so why not a title run?
Spears could win the title with Blanchard's help and then defend it successfully due to The Horseman's interference. That way, when somebody finally overcomes him, it will be a big deal.
Spears' act with Blanchard is incredibly entertaining, and deserves to be featured regularly in AEW. He's also extremely experienced and does have some name value amongst wrestling fans, which would help establish the new belt.
We'd call him a good hand, but, well, you know what happened the last time somebody did that.
